With Driver, We Travel

India has introduced some new challenges to us- Delhi is not a walking friendly city, and maps do little to help wind through the maze. The metro system, while extensive, doesn’t reach all the sites. Furthermore, the long distance train system books up much faster than we imagined, and a few of the cities we wanted to travel to did not have access by train. That mixed with the stress we’ve felt simply trying to find our way around Delhi, we decided we needed some help navigating around this city– and the entire country for that matter. With limited time, we did something completely out of character: we hired a driver. It was surprisingly affordable, but then again, this is India.

So for the next 14 days, we are three. One of us luckily speaks Hindi, and is well equipped to steer between lane dividers, speeding trucks, and cows sleeping in the middle of the highway. While we feel a bit foolish for not being willing to go it by bus and train, we’ll be able see a lot more in the limited time we have. The upcoming two weeks will be an event- we are covering much more land than is typically comfortable in this amount of time: Agra, Jaipur, Pushkar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Mumbai… A lot of driving, and a lot of sight seeing. This will be a whole different chapter in our world tour.
